Samuel Lysons: Born 1763, died 1819. Antiquary; FSA 1786; FRS 1797. Barrister at the Inner Temple 1798; keeper of the Tower of London records 1803; vice-president and treasurer of the Royal Society 1810; antiquary professor in the Royal Academy 1818. Assisted his brother Daniel Lysons on the Magna Britannia. His greatest work is deemed to be Reliquiae Britannico-Romanae, containing figures of Roman Antiquities discovered in England, with plates, was published 1807-17.
